President of the Republic convened the National Defence Council

President Lennart Meri convened the National Defence Council to Kadriorg for Wednesday, July 5. The agenda of the meeting of the National Defence Council includes the restructuring of the Estonian Defence Forces and the related personnel issues, as well as the formation and application of the working group that is to be established for planning the reform of command system.

Members of the National Defence Council are Toomas Savi, Chairman of the Riigikogu, Prime Minister Mart Laar, Minister of Foreign Affairs Toomas Hendrik Ilves, Minister of Defence Jüri Luik, and Minister of Internal Affairs Tarmo Loodus, as well as Tiit Tammsaar, Chairman of the National Defence Committee of the Riigikogu, and Lieutenant-Colonel Aare Ermus, Acting Commander of the Defence Forces.
