President of the Republic Met with the Board of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry
04.05.2000

Today, the board of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry offered the traditional dinner to President Lennart Meri. The administrative reform was the main issue discussed by the President and the businessmen during the dinner.

Toomas Luman, President of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry, found it regrettable that in current discussions of the administrative reform, the change in the number of counties and parishes has been considered its only important aspect and the objective of the administrative reform has not been clearly expressed yet.

President Lennart Meri said that the businessmen should write down how many jobs they could create in one or the other region and what kind of support they would like to receive from the state. The President of the Republic and the businessmen promised to continue their dialogue and in the future to include also those who are responsible for the administrative reform.
