President of the Republic Met with the Leader of the Estonian Confederation of Trade Unions

Today in Kadriorg, President Lennart Meri met with the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Estonian Confederation of Trade Unions Kadi Pärnits and the former chairman Raivo Paavo.

At the meeting, the situation of pensioners was discussed, the participants also talked about the role and identity of trade unions in the globalising society which President Meri illustrated with an example of the sense of perspective of the trade union movement in the United Kingdom.

At the meeting with the President, Kadi Pärnits and raivo Paavo emphasised the importance of social dialogue and the leader of trade unions Kadi Pärnits also mentioned that unfortunately, the press offers no support. According to her, Estonian press is not very analytical and does not teach or educate the society.
