Board of the Cultural Foundation of the President of the Republic Convened in Kadriorg

The Board of the Cultural Foundation of the President of the Republic convened for the first time after the registration of the Cultural Foundation. Indrek Neivelt, Chairman of the Board of Hansapank, was elected the Chairman of the Board. The artist Olev Subbi, the writer Ain Kaalep, the businessman Toomas Luman and the President's Counsellor Toomas Kiho are members of the Board.
The Board discussed the priorities, main working objectives and bearings of the Cultural Foundation. President of the Republic and the Board of the Cultural Foundation unanimously agreed that it is necessary to improve the world's knowledge of Estonia. President of the Republic sees the world's improved knowledge of Estonia as an important security guarantee. Also the possibility to start issuing an annual award to a distinguished scholar was discussed.

The Board also approved this year's first allocations. The Cultural Foundation supports the restoration works of the Ruhnu church, the foundation ''Centennial Estonian'', the folklore awards and the initiative ''Estonian Flag for Every House''.
