President of the Republic met the Mayor of Tallinn
16.03.2000

President Lennart Meri received Jüri Mõis, the Mayor of Tallinn, in the presidential palace of Kadriorg today to discuss the problems of regional development in Estonia and accommodation building.

Jüri Mõis explained his ideas concerning the development of Greater Tallinn. He admitted that he as a Mayor must show the City of Tallinn in as favourable light as possible.

President of the Republic explained to Jüri Mõis the challenge of today's Estonia – the strength of a state is determined by its weakest link, and thus it is the primary task of the Head of State and the Government to ensure the even development of Estonia.

Accommodation building in Estonia at an available price was the second main theme of discussion. The President and the Mayor agreed that the prohibitive prices of accommodation could be reduced.
