President of the Republic returned from a working visit to Ukraine

President Lennart Meri yesterday evening returned from a working visit to Ukraine, Crimea, where he took part in the conference ''Baltic and Black Sea Co-operation: to Integrated Europe of the 21st Century Free of Dividing Lines''. On the conference President Meri made a statement that is available on the President's Internet homepage on the address www.president.ee .
On Saturday in Yalta, the President also met the Slovak President Rudolf Schuster, with whom the need to establish closer relations
between the two countries was discussed, as well as the need to create an agreemental basis for these relations. President Meri and President Schuster exchanged invitations to visits.

President Meri also had bilateral meetings with the Georgian President Edvard Shevardnadze and the Bulgarian President Petar toyanov and other representatives of the countries and international organisations participating in the conference. On Friday, September 11, the President also met the Estonians living in Alupka.
