President of the Republic visited "Tallinna Külmhoone"
17.06.1999

President Lennart Meri today visited the new ice-cream factory of the "Tallinna Külmhoone" (the Tallinn Cold Storage) and opened a new ice-cream line. Opening the ice-cream factory, the President said that it is the children who can best appreciate ice-cream and that he hoped this day would make them happy.

As the President said, it is important that the factory has given new jobs to the people of Tallinn and that it is new and modern, but it is also important for the high-quality products of the factory to find the way to international market or, in other words, meet the requirements of the European Union.

As the President said, Estonians know well the meaning of the word saldejums, but now the time has come for our neighbours to learn the meaning and the taste of the Estonian jäätis.
