President of the Republic Received the Ambassador of Albania

The Ambassador of Albania Osman Kraja on the ceremony of presenting his credentials to the President of the RepublicPresident Lennart Meri received Osman Kraja, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Albania to Estonia, who came to present his credentials, in Kadriorg today.

Presenting the credentials, Ambassador Kraja also forwarded the warm greetings of his President Rexhep Meidan. As the Ambassador said, the Albanians have closely followed Estonia's success in recent years which sets a real example for them. As Estonians and Albanians are considered to be the two oldest nations of Europe, Albania has always considered Estonia important, as both nations have always loved freedom and independence, the Ambassador said.

As President Meri said, he is glad to welcome in Estonia the Ambassador of Albania, the last European country that has become free after having been shut off by a totalitarian regime for half a century, and hoped that the Ambassador would feel at home in Estonia.

On the meeting between President Meri and Ambassador Kraja, the situation in Kosovo and elsewhere in the world was discussed.
