The President of the Republic met the Ambassadors of Thailand and Argentina

President Lennart Meri received Poksak Nilubol, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Kingdom of Thailand, who came to present his credentials, in Kadriorg today. Ambassador Poksak Nilubol resides in Stockholm.

The Ambassador of Thai admired Estonia's progress on the course of the European Union and NATO. Also matters of transit transport were discussed on the meeting, and the Ambassador of Thailand saw his country as a gateway to Southeast Asia, whereas the Estonian President spoke of Estonia as a gateway to Europe. Also co-operation in the field of tourism between the two countries was discussed.

President Lennart Meri also received Alfredo Corti, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Argentina to the Republic of Estonia, who came to present his credentials. Ambassador Alfredo Corti resides in Helsinki.

The President of the Republic thanked the Ambassador for the warm welcome that the yacht ''Lennuk'' had received in Argentina. Also relations between Estonia and Argentina in the future, when Estonia becomes a member of the European Union, were discussed.
