Statement by H. E. President Lennart Meri in connection with the speach of George W. Bush at Warsaw University
15.06.2001

I am extremely pleased by President George W. Bush's speech in Warsaw today. It provides a vision for a democratic Europe whole and free that is entirely shared by Estonia. President Bush in his statement today and in his previous speeches throughout the past week has reconfirmed the United States' commitment to include new members in the Atlantic Alliance. He is providing the leadership that we are looking for as we approach the 2002 Prague Summit.

Polish President Aleksander Kwaśniewski, in his speech, reconfirmed Poland's role as a leader in the process to enlarge the Alliance. I am grateful for his strong words.
