The President of the Republic conferred decorations on Estonian diplomats

According to his resolution from February 9, 2001, the President of the Republic today conferred decorations on the Estonian diplomats who had not been able to attend the ceremony “Estonia is Grateful” in the Kadriorg Palace on February 23, 2001.

The V Class Order of the National Coat of Arms was awarded to Priit Kolbre, the Ambassador of the Republic of Estonia to the European Union; Clyde Kull, the Ambassador of the Republic of Estonia to the UN Headquarters and other international organisations at Geneva; and Andres Tomasberg, the Ambassador of the Republic of Estonia to the Kingdom of Spain. Alar Streimann, the Deputy Secretary General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on European integration matters, was awarded the III Class Order of the White Star.

Also the Minister of Foreign Affairs Toomas Hendrik Ilves attended the ceremony.

On today’s ceremony, the President of the Republic also handed over one more badge of the Broken Cornflower. The President bestowed this honour on Ivar Ranne, Advisor of the Legal Department of the Office of the President, who had spent the years from 1949 to 1956 in Siberia as a victim of deportation.
