President Lennart Meri and the U.S. Senator John McCainTonight President Lennart Meri offered dinner at the presidential palace of Kadriorg to the U.S. Senator John McCain, who had delivered a lecture “From Tragedy to Destiny: Estonia’s Place in the New Atlantic Order” in memory of Robert Frasure, the former U.S. Ambassador to Estonia, earlier today in Tallinn.

Also Ambassadors Melissa Wells and Sven Jürgenson had been invited to dinner. At dinner, the discussion mostly focused on Estonia’s accession to NATO and relations to Russia. Also the situation in the Middle East and Central Asia was discussed. President Meri emphasised the need to give more assistance to the countries of Central Asia.
