The President-elect of the Republic of Estonia will assume office on October 8

The Office of the President of the Republic informs that Arnold Rüütel, the President-elect of the Republic of Estonia, will swear his oath of office on October 8 on the Riigikogu session starting at 3:00 PM.

At 2:00 PM, the President of the Republic and Mrs. Helle Meri will welcome the President-elect Arnold Rüütel and Mrs. Ingrid Rüütel at the Kadriorg Palace, and the President of the Republic will introduce the officials of the Office of the President of the Republic. At 2:45 PM, the company of honour will be lined up at the Castle Square of Toompea, and the commander of the company will report to the President of the Republic.

At the Riigikogu session starting at 3:00 PM, the President of the Republic Lennart Meri will deliver a speech and Arnold Rüütel, who was elected the President of the Republic of Estonia on September 21, will swear his oath of office, and also give a speech. At 3:45, the commander of the company of honour lined up in front of the Toompea Castle will report to the President of the Republic Arnold Rüütel.

At 4:00 PM, there will be a thanksgiving service at the Tallinn Episcopal Dome Church. At 5:00 PM there will be a reception at the Kadriorg Baroque Palace, where President Lennart Meri and Mrs. Helle Meri will say farewell to and the President of the Republic and Mrs. Ingrid Rüütel will welcome the representatives of the constitutional institutions of the Republic of Estonia, the diplomatic corps, and senior officials of the state.

From 9:00 to12:00 AM and from 3:00 to 6:00 PM on Monday, October 8, the doors of the presidential palace at Kadriorg will be open, and those who are interested can make a topical entry to the guestbook.
