President Lennart Meri received the members of the Constitutional Committee of the Riigikogu in Kadriorg today and described in more detail his opinion on the need to develop the Constitution. There was a vivid discussion on this subject between the President of the Republic and members of the Riigikogu. It was admitted that there are indeed serious problems in the state with solving competence issues between the constitutional institutions, as there is no institution that could solve these matters competently and conclusively.

Liia Hänni, the Chairman of the Constitutional Committee, thanked President Meri for his activity in developing the Estonian statehood.
