Today, the Estonian Export Council granted the title of the Friend of Estonian Export to President Lennart Meri.

According to Andres Tamm, Chairman of the Board of the Estonian Export Council, the title was given to recognise President Meri's activities to introduce Estonia in the world. ''Knowledge about Estonia and the image of Estonia as a country of European business culture has crucial importance for Estonia's export industry,'' Andres Tamm said. ''President Meri's contribution to re-establishing Estonia's place on the world map of economy has been outstanding,'' he added.
