President of the Republic of Greece comes on a state visit to Estonia

On Wednesday, October 11, Constantinos Stephanopoulos, the President of the Republic of Greece, will come on a state visit to Estonia on the invitation of President Lennart Meri. The Greek President will be accompanied by Angeliki Laiou, Deputy Foreign Minister of Greece, Ioannis Zaphiropoulos, Deputy Minister of National Economy of Greece, and a numerous official and business delegation.

The President of the Republic of Greece will arrive at the Tallinn Airport at noon. The official welcoming ceremony will take place at 3:00 PM in front of the presidential palace of Kadriorg, and be followed by bilateral talks.

At 4:15 PM, the two Heads of State will answer the questions of the journalists at Kadriorg. Thereafter, a visit will be paid to the Secondary School of Sciences, where the Greek President will lay a wreath to the monument to the students and teachers fallen in the War of Liberty.

Wednesday evening, President of the Republic and Mrs. Helle Meri will host a festive dinner at the House of Blackheads in honour of the Greek President Constantinos Stephanopoulos.

On October 12, at 10:00 AM, the Greek President will open a Greek-Estonian business seminar at the Olümpia Hotel conference centre. Later, the Greek President will have a meeting with the head of the City Council Rein Voog at the Tallinn Town Hall and with Prime Minister Mart Laar at the Stenbock House. In the White Hall of the Toompea Castle, the Greek Head of State will be greeted by Toomas Savi, Chairman of the Riigikogu, and representatives of the Riigikogu factions.

President Stephanopoulos will then proceed to the Tallinn Technical University, where he meets the rectors of Estonian universities.

At 3:30 PM, President Meri and President Stephanopoulos will give a joint press conference at the press centre of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

In the evening, President Stephanopoulos will host a reception in honour of the Estonian Head of State at the Estonia Concert Hall, where also the Greek pianist Vinia Tsopela will perform.

On Friday, October 13, President Stephanopoulos will visit the Muuga Port. Also a tour of the Tallinn Bay has been included in the schedule.

The President of Greece and his accompanying delegation will leave Tallinn at 1:00 PM.
