President of the Republic congratulated the Polish Presisdent upon his re-election

President Lennart Meri today sent a letter of congratulations to Aleksander Kwasniewski, who had been re-elected the President of Poland. President Meri congratulated him upon the convincing election results and wished him strength and stamina during his second term as President.

President Meri wrote that hopefully, his Polish colleague's wish to lead Poland to the European Union during his second term in office would be fulfilled. ''It is in our mutual interests that both Poland and Estonia, and naturally all of Central Europe would be prepared to accede to the European Union as soon as possible,'' President Meri wrote. The Estonian Head of State expressed his pleasure that the negotiations and co-operation are making good progress both in the 5+1 group and also bilaterally, as this makes it easier to support each other's aspirations.

The Estonian President congratulated President Kwasniewski in the name of all Estonia and himself.
