President of the Republic congratulated Sirly Tiik 24.10.2000This morning, President Lennart Meri wrote a letter to Sirly Tiik, who had won a gold medal in javelin throwing on Sydney Olympics with a world record and a bronze medal in high jump. The President wrote to the brave sportsman working as an educator in the Porkuni School for children that her personal self-exertion sets an inspiring example to all the people of Estonia, and that her sportsmanlike accomplishments help every one of us to discover their ambition and self-confidence.
The President congratulated Sirly Tiik from all his heart on her heroic accomplishments on the Sydney Olympics, and confirmed that the Estonians are proud of their sportsmen.
