President Lennart Meri has asked chairmen of all the Riigikogu factions, as well as Liia Hänni, Chairman of the Constitutional Committee of the Riigikogu, and Tiit Tammsaar and Trivimi Velliste, respectively the Chairman and Vice-Chairman of the National Defence Committee of the Riigikogu, to a working lunch at the presidential palace of Kadriorg tomorrow.

The President will propose to the chairmen of the Riigikogu factions to appoint Rear Admiral Tarmo Kõuts, so far the Director General of the Estonian Border Guard, to the post of the Commander of the Defence Forces. Also Prime Minister Mart Laar and Minister of Defence Jüri Luik support the President's candidate to the office of the Commander of the Defence Forces. The President will also discuss the appointment of Priit Kama, the Deputy Secretary General of the Ministry of Justice, to the office of Legal Chancellor with the members of the Riigikogu.

The lunch will start at 1:00 PM and take place in the presidential palace of Kadriorg instead of the Paslepa residence, as members of the Riigikogu have a very tight working schedule.
