A regular meeting of the Command System Reform Working Group took place

Today, a regular meeting of the Command System Reform Working Group of the National Defence Council took place in Kadriorg. The meeting was chaired by Minister of Defence Jüri Luik, the Head of the working group, and the following members of the working group participated: Tiit Tammsaar, member of the Riigikogu, Lieutenant General Johannes Kert, Rear Admiral Tarmo Kõuts, Director General of the Estonian Border Guard, and Urmas Reinsalu, Director of the Office of the President of the Republic. Lieutenant-Colonel Aarne Ermus, Acting Commander of the Defence Forces, as well as Lieutenant-Colonel German Kesa, Head of the Planning and Analysis Department of the General Staff (J-5), and Tiit Noorkõiv, Head of the Defence Policy and Planning Department of the Ministry of Defence, participated in the meeting as experts. Also Kalev Timberg, Deputy Permanent Under-Secretary in the field of internal security in the Ministry of Internal Affairs, had been invited to the meeting.

On the meeting, the discussion concentrated on the military and practical aspects of the establishment of the army staff and the defence district staffs. The working group authorised Rear Admiral Tarmo Kõuts and Lieutenant Colonel Aarne Ermus to submit the draft of the working group’s final report for the next meeting of the working group.
