President Lennart Meri, who had arrived at the Gorodenka border guard station in the course of his working visit to the Viru County, called Tarmo Kõuts, who had been appointed the Commander of the Defence Forces by the Riigikogu today, and congratulated him on the decision of the Riigikogu. President of the Republic expressed his pleasure that the Riigikogu had made a unanimous decision on this important matter of national defence, and wished the new Commander of the Defence Forces success in his new office and strength for fulfilling his important tasks.
