President Lennart Meri today appointed Mai Saunanen a Judge of Tartu Administrative Court, and Ifret Mamedguseinov a Judge of the Kohtla-Järve City Court. The Judges Saunanen and Mamedguseinov swore their oath of office in the presence of the President, and received as a gift a portrait photograph of the President of the Republic on the occasion of assuming their office.

The President congratulated the judges and hoped that while administering the law, they would always remember that law and justice must always walk hand in hand. Also Uno Lõhmus, the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court, participated on the ceremony of appointing the judges.
