President of the Republic received Timothy Craddock, the Ambassador of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, who had come to pay his farewell visit to the Estonian Head of State, at Viimsi this evening.

President of the Republic conferred the Order of the Cross of St. Mary's Land on Timothy Craddock for his services to the Republic of Estonia and to the Estonian people. President of the Republic emphasised Timothy Craddock's heartfelt dedication to his work and to the development of Estonian-British relations. When conferring the decoration on Timothy Craddock, the President said that although the Ambassador has only been in Estonia for three years, his contribution to this country is indelible.

During Ambassador Craddock's term of office in Estonia, the new building of the UK Embassy was built, and several high-level visits were oragnised in both directions, including President Meri's official visit to England.

In his speech, the Ambassador expressed his thanks for the recognition that the Cross of St. Mary's Land brought to his work in Estonia, and expressed his conviction that he has managed to forward the message of Estonia's great success to Great Britain. Mr. Ambassador concluded his speech with the words: ''I will always remain a friend and supporter of Estonia.''
