President Lennart Meri today sent a letter to Toomas Savi, Chairman of the Riigikogu, proposing to convene an extraordinary sessioof the Riigikogu on August 28, 2000 at 12.00 in accordance with Section 68 and Clause 5 of Section 78 of the Constitution of the Republic of Estonia and Subsection 1 of Section 43 of the Riigikogu Procedures Act.

President of the Republic requested that his proposal from June 30, 2000, concerning the release of Lieutenant-General Johannes Kert from the office of the Commander of the Defence Forces, be included in the agenda.
