The Command System Reform working group of the National Defence Council convened

On Tuesday, the working group formed to the National Defence Council to plan the implementation of the command system reform convened at Kadriorg for the first time. The head of the working group, the Minister of Defence Jüri Luik, as well as the working group members – Tiit Tammsaar, Chairman of the National Defence Committee of the Riigikogu, Lieutenant General Johannes Kert, Brigadier General Märt Tiru and Urmas Reinsalu, Director of the Office of the President – participated in the meeting. The reports prepared earlier by the working group members were discussed.

Proceeding from the positions of the National Defence Council, the working group set itself the following task: ''to draw up the plan for the reform of the command system, which essentially means an integral system and structure of the administrative, strategic and operational and tactical command of the defence forces. The working group will enclose its vision of the national defence and the structure of Estonian defence forces that will enable to assess the efficiency of the command system.''

In accordance with the Directive No. 106 of the President of the Republic from 5 July 2000, the working group shall present its report to the National Defence Council within three months at the latest. The next meeting of the working group will take place on the first week of August.

President of the Republic visited the working group meeting and wished the working group fast and energetic advance in its activities.
