President of the Republic celebrates St. Olaf’s Day on Vormsi

This morning, President Lennart Meri travelled to Vormsi, where the St. Olaf's congregation of Vormsi celebrates the tenth anniversary of the re-consecration of the church. The service was conducted by Jaan Kiivit, Archbishop of the Estonian Evangelical Lutheran Church, Henrik Svenungsson, Bishop Emeritus of Stockholm, Kuno Pajula, Archbishop Emeritus of the Estonian Evangelical Lutheran Church, Professor Doctor Christian Zippert, the Bishop of Kurhessen-Waldeck, Dean Assessor Tiit Salumäe, and Ants Rajando, Deacon of the Vormsi Congregation.

At Vormsi, President of the Republic was received by the Vormsi Rural Municipality mayor Ants Varblane, who accompanied the President on a tour of the island. At Vormsi, the President also had a meeting with Elisabet Borsiin Bonnier, the Ambassador of Sweden, and the former Swedish inhabitants of Vormsi now living in Sweden.

President Meri travelled from his Paslepa residence to Vormsi and back on his launch, the Tuule.
