President Lennart Meri sent today a letter of appreciation to the Legal Chancellor Eerik-Juhan Truuväli, whose 7-year term of office will expire tomorrow, on June 17.

President of the Republic thanked Eerik-Juhan Truuväli for restoring the constitutional institution of the Legal Chancellor in the Republic of Estonia. The President also thanked the resigning Legal Chancellor for his friendship and assistance, which have often been a pillar of support for the President and will hopefully continue to be so in the future.

President of the Republic is currently considering several candidates to the post of the Legal Chancellor. The Republic of Estonia presents very high demands to the new Legal Chancellor, and therefore the process of finding a suitable candidate is bound to be time-consuming.
