Hansapank transferred 350,000 kroons to the account of the President's cultural foundation
30.06.2000

Hansapank transferred the profit from the participation fees of Hansapank's spring conference ''Rules of a New Era'' to the account of the President's Cultural Foundation today. Hansapank donated 350,000 kroons altogether for the financing of projects supporting culture and education.

Hansapank's this year's conference, already fifth of its kind, focused on the changes concurrent with the development of information technology both in enterprises and in the society as a whole. President of the Republic of Estonia Lennart Meri, as well as Chairman of the Board of Hansapank Indrek Neivelt delivered presentations on the conference, and the main presentation ''The Dream Society'' was made by Jesper Bo Jensen, Director of the research department of the Copenhagen Institute for Future Studies.

As President of the Republic proposed, the profit from last year's spring conference ''What are Estonia's Opportunities?'' is used for completing the ''History of the Estonian People'' that remained incomplete in 1940, and for supporting the purchase of this book for schools and libraries.

Today, the Board of the Cultural Foundation decided several other allocations of financial means, and the greatest donation goes for the organisation of the exhibition ''Estonian Painting at the Turn of the Century'' at the Tallinn Art House, and for the publication of the exhibition's catalogue.
