Yesterday, in the evening of May 15, the President of the Republic met with Jerome Monod, the future counsellor of the President of France Jacques Chirac, and his wife in Viimsi.

Developments in Europe and visions of the future development of the European Union against the background of the recent speech by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Germany Joschka Fischer were discussed at the meeting. Liquidation of the environmental damages caused by the Soviet Army and military industry was also discussed. The company Suez Lyonnaise des Eaux, whose chairman is Jerome Monod, has also dealt with liquidation of damages to the environment.

Jerome Monod has been working together with Jacques Chirac for a long time. The last time Monod was the chief of Chirac's cabinet was in 1970 when Chirac was the Prime Minister of France.
