President of the Republic accepted the credentials of the Ambassador of Belgium

Ambassador of the Belgium Louis Mouraux presented his credentials to the President of the RepublicPresident Lennart Meri received the Ambassador of the Kingdom of Belgium to the Republic of Estonia Louis Mouraux, who had come to present his credentials, in the presidential palace today.

Presenting the credentials signed by Albert II, the King of Belgium, Ambassador Mouraux spoke of the close relations between the two small countries. The Ambassadors, who has been working in the European Union structures for 8 years, praised Estonia's success in the negotiations with the European Union.

As President Meri said, Belgium has made a major contribution to help Estonia to overcome the consequences of the occupation that started in 1940 both in Estonia and in Belgium, but lasted for half a century in Estonia.

It was admitted that as a small country that has from the beginning integrated into the Euro-Atlantic structures and yet preserved its strong identity, Belgium has many experiences to share with Estonia in bilateral relations.
