President Lennart Meri conferred the IV Class Order of the Cross of St Mary's Land on Freiherr Gustav von Rosen for the services rendered to the Estonian state and people, in the presidential palace of Kadriorg today.

On the ceremony of conferring the decoration, the President thanked Freiherr von Rosen for his contribution to improving the life in Estonia. As President Meri said, it would be good to have more citizens of similar grasp supporting Estonia, and reminded that Gustav von Rosen had restored the dilapidated Saare (Lückholm) estate in Noarootsi. The estate restored by Gustav von Rosen is going to house the centre of the Silma Wildlife Protection Area, supported by the Lääne County Government and the Biosphere Protection Area of the West Estonian Archipelago.

Gustav von Rosen thanked President of the Republic for the great honour and recognition bestowed upon him in the name of himself, his spouse, colleagues and the whole von Rosen family.
