President of the Republic, who is on a visit to London, today opened an investment seminar in the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of London ''On Banking in Estonia''. In his address, the President spoke of the basic truths of the Estonian economy and urged British businessmen to be more active in their investments into Estonia and to develop more intense trade between the two countries.

Today, the President also paid a visit to the Headquarters of the European Bank of Reconstruction and Development, where he gave a speech on the main characteristics of the Estonian economy on the panel discussion of the Bank's leadership. The President's presentation was followed by a discussion in a broader circle and a private meeting with the EBRD President Horst Köhler, on the latter's initiative, to discuss EBRD's specific action plans for Estonia.
