President of the Republic will hand over the first Ernst Jaakson Scholarship and Award

President of the Republic will hand over the first Ernst Jaakson Scholarship and Ernst Jaakson Award at 5 PM on March 15, 2000, in Kadriorg.

According to the resolution of the Board of Ernst Jaakson Foundation, the scholarship of 25,000 Estonian kroons was appointed to Katrin Uba, a politology student who is now on her second year at Tartu University, and the Award of 10,000 Estonian kroons to Kyllike Sillaste, now the First Secretary of the Estonian Embassy in London, whose successful work as Director General of the European Integration Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has especially been pointed out in the Board's resolution.

Katrin Uba is an active student of politology, whose academic accomplishments so far promise a prospective contribution to the strengthening of Estonian independence.

It is the goal of the Ernst Jaakson Foundation to keep alive the memory of the distinguished Estonian diplomat Ernst Jaakson and to support the strengthening of Estonia's independence. The foundation issues a scholarship in the field of international relations and the award for an educated and conscientious public servant. President of the Republic is the Patron of the Foundation.
