President of the Republic, who is the Patron of the Year of the Estonian Book, met the representatives of the General Committee of the Year of the Estonian Book in Viimsi yesterday on March 22.

Peeter Tulviste and Hando Runnel, who are Deputy Chairmen of the Committee, spoke of the preparations for the Year of the Book, and the exhibitions taking place and the active co-operation of local teams.

As the Patron, President Meri offered his comprehensive assistance in introducing and arranging the Year of the Estonian Book; the organisers of the Year of the Estonian Book are carrying to life several joint initiatives of the President and the General Committee. President of the Republic expressed his pleasure that the events of the Year of the Estonian Book have also reached outside Tallinn and Tartu.
