President Lennart Meri sent a letter to Vladimir Putin, winner of the presidential elections in Russia, and wished him strength and energy on his new post involving great responsibility.

The President expressed his hope that the two Presidents would be able to meet in the foreseeable future; in this connection, President Meri also expressed his wish that the relations of the two neighbouring countries would develop in a good-neighbourly and mutually understanding spirit.
