For the Christmas and New Year 1999, the President of the Republic received nearly one thousand Christmas cards that are now exhibited in the foyer of the National Library, from February 2 to February 16, 2000.

President Lennart Meri sent 1400 Christmas cards this year; the President's card depicts part of the altar painting by Hermen Rode from 1481 in the St. Nicholas Church in Tallinn, with the small coat of arms of Tallinn, photographed by Ann Tenno.
