On Friday, February 11, President of the Republic participated on the 465th Schaffermahlzeit of Bremen, where he was the guest of honour and gave the main presentation. On the Schaffermahlzeit, there were present 100 trades- and businessmen from the Federal State of Bremen, as well as 100 sea captains and 100 guests from Germany and abroad. Among others, there were the Director of the Federal Bank of Germany, the Director of the German Telecom, the financial manager of the Siemens corporation, as well as the top representatives of the BMW and other German industries. In his speech, President of the Republic invited the German enterprises to invest in Estonia more actively. According to the rules of the Schaffermahlzeit, every guest can only participate there once in a lifetime. Last year, the main speaker was Roman Herzog, the Ex-President of Germany. All German Presidents of the post-war period have participated in the Schaffermahlzeit.

In the morning, President of the Republic had a meeting with Henning Scherf, Prime Minister of the Federal State of Bremen, where the co-operation opportunities of Bremen and Estonia were discussed.

President of the Republic will be back in Tallinn this afternoon.
