President Lennart Meri today signed the Order, by which the Supreme Commander of National Defence made an amendment to the Order No. 89 from February 18, 2000 ''Conferment of Military Ranks'', excluding Margus Alviste from the list of those to whom the rank of Ensign had been conferred. The President's decision was based on additional information concerning Margus Alviste that was claimed from the General Staff of the Defence Forces.

In his letter, the Supreme Commander of the Defence Forces reprimanded the Acting Commander of the Defence Forces Märt Tiru, and drew his attention to the need to guarantee flawless procedures for proposing the commission of officers in the General Staff of the Defence Forces.
