President of the Republic has received congratulations on the occasion of the Independence Day

On the occasion of the Estonian Independence Day, President of the Republic received congratulations from the Finnish President Martti Ahtisaari, who wished happiness and success to the President and the people of Estonia; the Lithuanian President Valdas Adamkus has sent his wishes that the good relations between Estonians and Lithuanians would be a mutual support to the attainment of the goals of Estonia and Lithuania. Also the Swedish King Carl XVI Gustaf, the Hungarian President Arpad Göncz, the Swiss President Adolf Ogi, the Greek President Constantinos Stephanopoulos, the Jordanian King Abdullah, the Spanish King Juan Carlos, the King of Morocco Mohammed VI, and the Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak have sent their congratulations to Kadriorg.

Aleksei Glukhov, Ambassador of the Russian Federation to the Republic of Estonia, forwarded to President Meri the congratulations of Vladimir Putin, Acting President of the Russian Federation, on the Independence Day reception in the Estonia Theatre yesterday.

The good wishes from the Presidents of Latvia, France, the United States of America, Germany, Poland, the Czech Republic, Ireland, the United States of Mexico, Austria, Ukraine, the Philippines, Bulgaria, Sri Lanka, Turkey, India, Israel, Portugal, Cyprus, Peru, China, and the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia have also reached Kadriorg. Also Pope John Paul II sent a telegram on the occasion of the Independence Day.

Also the Queen of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, the Queen of Denmark, the King of Belgium, the Queen of the Netherlands, and the Governors General of Canada and Australia have sent their congratulations.
