President of the Republic prepares the building and architecture competition for the Young Estonian Family project
28.12.1999

President Lennart Meri met the Finnish architect Antti Pirhonen, the Secretary General of the Finnish Union of Architects, with whom the Young Estonian Family Project was discussed, at his Viimsi home today. Antti Pirhonen promised the President his assistance in organising the building and architecture competition for the Young Estonian Family project, so that the competition terms would be in accordance with the terms of similar competitions in the European Union.

At the present time, the terms of the architecture competition of the Young Family Home project are being elaborated. As the President said, the participants must also find a building contractor, who would agree to build within the limits of the given price scale. The building and architecture competition is organised in the French system, and proceeds from quality, whereas the final price is the most important term of competition.

The President wishes to announce the building and architecture competition in January, and to invite the architects familiar with our climate from Estonia, Finland, Sweden, Denmark, and Germany to participate.
