This afternoon President Lennart Meri saw the yacht ''Lennuk'' off from the Pirita Yachting Harbour to the round-the-world voyage to take the Estonian flag around the world. President Meri is the patron of the round-the-world voyage.

President Meri was proud of the people that were going out to sea, wished them all the best and reminded them that if they go on a voyage around the world with the Estonian flag, this flag has to be surely brought back as well.

The President wished the crew seven feet of water under the keel and a good voyage. ''In April 2001, when the yacht returns, I will be in office and welcome you back here,'' promised President Meri.

President Meri also went on board of ''Lennuk'' and Captain Mart Saarso showed him around on the yacht. The President was satisfied with the work of the yacht builders.
