President of the Republic Received the Ambassador of Bosnia and Herzegovina

Dr. Hasan Dervishbegović, the Ambassador of Bosnia and Herzegovina, on the ceremony of presenting his credentials to the President of the RepublicPresident Lennart received Dr. Hasan Dervishbegović, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Bosnia and Herzegovina, who came to present his credentials, in Kadriorg today.

Presenting his credentials, the Ambassador thanked Estonia for the support to Bosnia and Herzegovina, which included financial support and humanitarian aid, as well as for sending the Estonian peacekeepers to Bosnia and Herzegovina. As the Ambassador said, Estonia's contribution has been a great help in building up the country after three and a half years of war and fulfilling the Dayton agreement. The Ambassador expressed his hope that the Sarajevo summit at the end of July this year, where also the Estonian President participated, would also speed up the development of south-eastern Europe.

As President Meri said, the history of the two countries has been similar in this century, both countries have fallen victim to a totalitarian regime. Mostly, the meeting concentrated on discussion of the future prospects of the states of the Balkan region.
