President of the Republic will visit Ukraine

On the evening of Thursday, September 9, President Lennart Meri will leave for a working visit to Ukraine, Crimea, where he will take part in the conference ''Baltic and Black Sea Co-operation: to Integrated Europe of the 21st Century Free of Dividing Lines'', where the Heads of State and Heads of Government of the Baltic Sea and Black Sea States will participate.

On Friday morning, the President will meet the Estonians living in the Crimean area in Alupka. On Friday afternoon, the conference where President Meri as well as 14 Heads of State and Government participating in the event are to deliver a statement. The Ukrainian President Leonid Kuchma will host a dinner in honour of the guests. During the visit to Crimea, the Estonian President's schedule also includes bilateral meetings.

The President will fly to Crimea on a special plane that will make a stopover in Riga to take on board also the Latvian delegation led by President Vaira Vike-Freiberga.

The President will be back in Tallinn on the late night of Saturday, September 11.
