Today, on July 1st , President Lennart Meri sent a letter of condolences to the French President Jacques Chirac in connection with the tragic cable car accident in France.

In his message President Meri said that on the emotional plane, it is impossible for us to accept that people can be killed in service - die such fatal death - also in peacetime. In his letter of condolences, President Meri said that Estonia wishes to stand by France also at the times of sorrow.
