President Lennart Meri today greeted the Firebearers' Team of the Estonian Male Singing Society, who brought to Tallinn the Song Festival Fire that had started its journey in Tartu on June 24.

The President greeted the firebearers and the singers and thanked them for keeping the fire alive and carrying it through Estonia. The President hopes and prays that this flame would remain burning in every Estonian's heart, warm them when they are cold and show them a way in the dark and join us together at the times of weakness.

The President asked the firebearers to carry the Song Festival Fire to the lighthouse of Song Festival Ground with care and consideration, so the fire could be lit there when the time is right.
