Tonight in Paslepa, President Lennart Meri met with Admiral Charles S. Abbot, Deputy Commander of the US European Armed Forces, in whose honour a dinner was served. Admiral Abbot was very pleased with the impression he got of the Estonian Armed Forces during the day.

Strategic issues of security were discussed at the meeting, specific attention was paid to the occupation of the Pristina airfield by units of Russian Armed Forces. The readiness of Estonia to join the North Atlantic alliance was also discussed and the President of the Republic said a toast in honour of the alliance.

Colonel Urmas Roosimägi, Deputy Commander of the Regular Armed Forces, and Commander Peter Hendrikson, US Defence Attaché in Estonia, were also present at the meeting.
