President Lennart Meri sent a letter with good wishes today to Vaira Vike-Freiberga, the newly-elected President of Latvia. ''You are taking the office at a time that is important both for Latvia and the entire Baltic Sea region,'' wrote President Meri.

The President of Estonia expressed in the letter his hope to be able to meet also the future President Vaira Vike-Freiberga in Riga on 28 June, when the President of Estonia will meet the retiring President of Latvia.
