On May 14, President Lennart Meri signed the resolution on awarding national decorations. In relation to the state visit to the Republic of Greece, the President resolved to award the Chain of the Cross of Terra Mariana to the President of the Republic of Greece Constantinos Stephanopoulos.

In relation to the state visit to Greece, the President awards the I class Order of the White Star to the Prime Minister of Greece Constantinos Simitis, the Chairman of the Parliament of Greece Apostolos Kaklamanis, the Minister of Foreign Affairs George A. Papandreou, the Mayor of Athens Dimitrios Avramoupoulus and Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Yannos Kranidiotis. The Shipping Minister of Greece Stavros Sumakis receives the I class Order of the Cross of the Eagle.

According to the resolution of the President, 49 government an state officials of Greece receive orders of the Republic of Estonia in relation to the state visit of President Lennart Meri and Mrs. Helle Meri to the Republic of Greece from May 23-28, 1999.
