On his state visit to the Greek Republic, President of the Republic had a meeting with Prefect Anastasios Salassiotis, the local governor of Argolid in Nauplio. The Prefect of Argolid and his spouse hosted a dinner in honour of the Estonian Head of State, Mrs. Helle Meri and the official delegation of Estonia.

On the meeting the Prefect of Argolid was interested in the export trade of Estonia. He mentioned that for the establishment of business relations, it would be useful for both countries to host each other’s business delegations.

President Meri expressed his hope that the Prefect would be able to visit Estonia when the Greek President will make a state visit to Estonia in the near future.

This morning, the official ceremony of farewell to the Greek President Constantinos Stephanopoulos took place. President Stephanopoulos, who himself left for a visit to Bulgaria today, wished the Estonian President the pleasant continuation of his visit. The Greek President once again thanked President Meri for his invitation to the state visit that would promote the relations between the two countries.

President Lennart Meri and Mrs. Helle Meri will continue the state visit tomorrow on the island of Crete, where the President shall also visit the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Herakleion. The President will arrive back in Estonia on the early morning of Saturday.
