President Lennart Meri will fly to Washington on Friday, March 12, to the annual meeting of the Trilateral Commission. On Monday, March 15, the President will give a presentation “Estonia on the Way to the West and Her Relations to the East” at the Carnegie Foundation. On the same evening, the Committee to Expand NATO consisting of the supporters of NATO enlargement will host a dinner in honour of the President of the Republic of Estonia.

In Washington, the President is also going to meet several important officials of the US Government. Meetings with Senator Chuck Hagel and with the distinguished politologist and national security counsellor Zbigniew Brzezinski have been scheduled to March 13.

In Washington, the President will also give interviews to the newspapers "Washington Post" and "Los Angeles Times", and meet the journalist at the Washington National Press Club.

President Meri will be back in Tallinn on Wednesday, March 17.
